ABOUT US

Action Physiotherapy originally started in 1993 in the Fort Garry area on Pembina Highway location. We have since grown and are now also serving the River Heights community with our Academy Road location. We offer a variety of different services at both our locations such as physiotherapy, massage therapy, Traditional Chinese Acupuncture, counselling and dietary consultations. Many of our therapists have additional training in services such as acupuncture, dry needling, custom orthotics, vestibular rehabilitation, oncology and cosmetic acupuncture, hot stone, craniosacral and aromatherapy massage. 

Resa Wan, Physiotherapist

Resa Wan | Physiotherapist 

Academy + Pembina

Resa graduated with a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Physical Therapy from the University of Manitoba. She has also completed her acupuncture and dry needling certification. She is also the proud owner of Action Physiotherapy.

 

She has a passion for health promotion, physical activity and helping others. When she isn’t at the clinic, she enjoys hiking and camping, going to the gym, running or spending time at the lake with family (including her dogs, Maggie and Bailey). 

Kristy Chuckree, Physiotherapist

Kristy Chuckree | Physiotherapist

Academy

 

Kristy has over 15 years experience as an orthopedic physiotherapist. She graduated from the University of Manitoba in 2008 with a Bachelor of Medical Rehabilitation in Physiotherapy.  Since then, she has been certified in acupuncture, and has taken a variety of post-graduate courses including vestibular rehabilitation and myofascial release. Throughout her career she has worked in hospital and private clinic settings.

Kristy enjoys getting to know her clients and treating a wide variety of orthopedic injuries. She takes a client centered approach to help her patients achieve their individual goals and believes in keeping active during recovery. In her free time Kristy enjoys keeping active, gardening, and crafting. Ask her about her dogs!

Tyler Swerdyliak | Physiotherapist

Pembina

Tyler graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Kinesiology and a Masters in Physiotherapy. Since then, he has expanded his knowledge and completed level 1 and 2 of the Orthopedic Division programs.

 

As a result, Tyler has developed a special interest in neck, back, and shoulder pain. He has a passion for health and wellness and takes a holistic approach to physiotherapy through patient education, exercise, and a hands-on techniques.  

 

Tyler enjoys the outdoors, playing sports, coaching hockey, and helping with the family farm. Tyler does more than just help his patients feel better by providing the necessary tools and education to help them manage their own injuries and live a healthier, pain-free life.

Ben Nguyen | Physiotherapist

Academy 

Ben graduated with a Bachelor of Physical Health and Education from the University of Winnipeg, and a Master of Physical Therapy from the University of Manitoba.

He aims to pursue certifications for acupuncture and dry needling in the near future. Ben strives to treat his patients with the same care that he received, which inspired him to become a physiotherapist.

 

Ben is fluent in Vietnamese and can deliver physiotherapy services in either English or Vietnamese. Ben enjoys canoeing, hiking, camping and training at the gym.

Fung Cheung | Physiotherapist

Pembina 

Fung graduated from University of Manitoba with a Masters of Physiotherapy.

 

He is always excited to continue his learning and hopes to concentrate on temporomandibular joint disorders and vestibular physiotherapy in the future. With a focus on evidence-based practice, he takes a hands-on approach together with exercise to help his patients.

 

He enjoys spending time rock climbing, doing taekwondo, and the occasional run.

Sharon Dyck, Massage Therapist

Sharon Dyck | Massage Therapist

Academy + Pembina

Sharon graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from the University of Manitoba and received RMT training at the Wellington College of Remedial Massage Therapy in 2014.

 

She has post-graduate training in Swedish massage, hot stone, aromatherapy, myofascial release, reflexology, as well as cranio-sacral therapy. She recently obtained her Reiki level 1.

 

When she’s not in the clinic, you can find Sharon enjoying golf, swimming, and yoga or volunteering at the Winnipeg Humane Society.

Scoot Soriano, Massage Therapist

Scott Soriano | Massage Therapist

Academy + Pembina

Scott received his RMT training in 2016 and has been with Action Physiotherapy since 2018. He is best known for his deep tissue techniques and friendly personality.

 

Scott has a passion for promoting healthy diet and lifestyles. He also has plenty of personal experience strength and conditioning training. When he isn’t at the clinic, you can find Scott training at the gym for his next powerlifting competition.

Carrie Grouette | Massage Therapist

Academy + Pembina

Carrie graduated from the Wellington College in 2011. She is part of the NHPC association and has studied hot stone, pre/post sports massage and aromatherapy massage. She recently took a mental health first aid course and is looking to further her education by taking the cup, scrape and tape course. 

 

Carrie is passionate about giving back to the community. She's volunteered for 10 years at Sage House as a massage therapist and hopes to introduce a positive touch to their rehabilitation process. Carrie is also a foster mom.

Brittany Conway | Traditional Chinese Acupuncturist

Academy + Pembina

Brittany Conway is a graduate of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) from the Canadian Institute of TCM in Calgary.

 

She has additional training in mental health, gastrointestinal health and digestion, fertility, pain relief, insomnia, and gynecology, and is a certified facial rejuvenation cosmetic acupuncturist and a certified oncology acupuncturist.

In her free time you can find Brittany spending time with her friends and family (including her pets).

Rochelle Tinumpit, Dietitian

Rochelle Tinumpit | Dietitian

Academy + Pembina

Rochelle has been practicing as a registered dietitian since 2012. She has experience working within the Community as a dietitian for the Healthy Start for Mom and Me program before joining Action Physiotherapy.

 

Rochelle prides on helping others live their best lives and firmly believes that diet can play a major role in making positive changes in one’s life. She also believes in a team-based approach to a healthy diet and lifestyle.

Dale Kornelson, Dietitian

Dale Kornelson | Dietitian

Academy

Dale has been a Registered Dietitian (RD) for over 24 years. Dale started his career at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto. Since then, Dale has worked in personal care homes, public health, diabetes education and chronic disease. He has also worked in private practice in order to help people achieve maximum wellness through better nutrition. Dale provides individual nutrition counselling for a number of different issues including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, celiac disease, and weight management.

Gloria Burgess Springer | Canadian Certified Counsellor

Academy

Gloria has a masters degree in Counselling and is a Professional member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association and is a Canadian Certified Counsellor.

Kiran Boparai | Office Manager

Academy + Pembina

Kiran graduated from Red River College with a diploma in Business Administration. She has been with Action Physiotherapy since 2019. Kiran speaks fluent English, Punjabi and Hindi. In her free time she enjoys reading, watching tv and spending time with her friends and family.

She can be found working primarily at our Academy location.
